This free, four-part series will tackle key topics designed to support ranchers and rural residents:

January 22 – Ranch Tech: GPS Tags & Drone Seeding

Technology is changing the way ranchers manage land and livestock. Join rancher Ryan Lankford as he shares how 701x GPS ear tags help him monitor cattle from anywhere, giving new meaning to “keeping an eye on the herd.” Then, rancher Steve Kenyon will demonstrate how fall frost seeding with drones can make forage establishment easier, faster, and more efficient. Discover how innovation can simplify operations without sacrificing stewardship.

Meet the Speakers:

Ryan Lankford-He is a producer representative to the board, grew up in a farm family on the Fort Belknap Indian Reservation. After serving in the U.S. Army and earning a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, he returned home to continue his family’s agricultural legacy. Lankford has helped expand the family’s operation to include Red Angus livestock and Organic Certified crops. Today, he produces winter wheat, spring wheat, canola, peas, lentils, chickpeas, flax, and barley on more than 10,000 acres of leased Tribal land.

He serves as a member of the Tribal Agriculture Expert Committee and has also represented producers for more than seven years on both county and state Farm Service Agency (FSA) committees.

Steve Kenyon- He owns a custom grazing business in Alberta, Canada under the name of Greener Pastures Ranching Ltd.  By using extended grazing techniques he is able to pasture cattle year round. This is done by using a combination of intensive cell grazing, dormant season grazing, swath grazing, crop residue grazing and bale grazing.  Steve has been teaching sustainable grazing management for more than 20 years and has been a keynote speaker at many conferences and seminars throughout Canada and the U.S. and even into Europe.  Steve has a very energetic personality, which compliments a very down to earth common-sense approach to farm business management.  Yet he is still just a producer and presents in a very honest and straightforward style.

The Mission statement of Greener Pastures is “Economic and Environmental Sustainability for Generations” It is important to provide an enjoyable, profitable and sustainable business for future generations.

Each session includes a 60-minute presentation followed by a 30-minute Q&A, allowing you to engage directly with our expert speakers.
