Jacobs Ranch signing off

A typical April will find us regularly monitoring the cows that are calving, watching for birthing problems, and especially if the weather is cold we watch for babies that may have been chilled.  We have had an unusually warm month.  So I have not had any calves in the basement trying to warm them up.  The cows have just been “doing their thing” and all seems well.

Cute babies
See the mommas on the hill and the one “babysitter” cow

We are also trying to get some spring wheat planted.  We have had about .5 inches of rain in the last 2 days but it is the first measurable moisture we have had for at least six weeks.  We sure are hoping for some additional rains in May.  This is the last post from the Jacobs Ranch, there will be someone else for May.  If you would like to keep track of activities at our place you can find us on Facebook at jacobsranchmt
