 le selection\, small ruminant grazing\, and rangeland monitoring\, the Ran
 chers Stewardship Alliance "Rural Resilience" webinar series is back for a
  third year!\n\nKicking off the 2023 series is "Soil Carbon: What's the Bu
 zz?" with guest presenter Peter Donovan\, founder of the Soil Carbon Coali
 tion.\n\nWant a better grasp on soil carbon? Analyze the importance of soi
 l microbiology and soil test results while relaying the relevance of each 
 to soil health and profitability during this online workshop. Carbon credi
 t contracting is all the rage. What's new? What’s old? What are the moti
 vations\, issues\, benefits\, and risks? Join us as we tackle those questi
 ons and yours.\n\nGrab a notebook and bring an inquiring mind as Donovan s
 hares his decades of experience:\nDonovan has a background in forestry\, f
 arm and ranch work\, sheep and cattle herding\, holistic management and de
 cision making\, rangeland monitoring\, and community development.\n\nHis f
 irst effort in sharing what he was learning about ecosystem process and fu
 nction was reporting on holistic managers in the 1990s (see managingwhol
 es.com).\n\nIn 2007 he founded the Soil Carbon Coalition. His second effor
 t was traveling around the continent for a decade measuring soil carbon ch
 ange. Spread too thin\, Donovan expresses that it was not a good context f
 or sharing or fostering a shared intelligence on the circle of life. Much 
 of the conversation and buzz about soil carbon quickly turned to the commo
 dification of soil carbon as "offsets" which to him is the wrong question
 —for both our intentions and our ability to implement them.\n\nsoilhealt
