 ndustry has faced challenges that mirror pressures in the beef sector. Fro
 m shifting consumer preferences and import competition to labor shortages 
 and grazing losses\, these experiences offer valuable lessons for today’
 s cattle producers. Brent Roeder\, MSU Extension Sheep Specialist\, will s
 hare insights from the sheep industry’s history and what cattle producer
 s should consider as they navigate changing markets and policies.\n\nAbout
  the Speaker: Brent Roeder grew up on a multigenerational sheep\, goat and
  cattle operation in the Texas Hill country. Attending Montana State Unive
 rsity to get a master's degree in Range Sheep Nutrition he met his wife\, 
 Tracie. Having two brothers handling the operation in Texas\, he and Traci
 e chose to stay in Montana working for four years at Sieben Live Stock Com
 pany\, helping with the Undaunted Stewardship Program while conducting lar
 ge scale livestock weed grazing projects\, served several years as the Mon
 tana Woolgrowers Executive Secretary\, three years as the Extension Ag age
 nt in Teton County and presently serves as the MSU Extension Sheep and Woo
 l Specialists and Supervisor at the Montana Wool Lab. Brent and his wife T
 racie operate a registered Targhee operation that winters on the Greenfiel
 ds Irrigation Project near Fairfield and summers in the Blackfoot River ea
 st of Missoula. Tracie manages a direct-to-consumer lamb market enterprise
  with Central Avenue Meats in Great Falls and also a value-added wool blan
 ket business. Brent's main research and extension interests focus on overl
 aying new technology on proven management practices\, exploring how intern
 ational supply and demand affects the profitability of Montana producers a
 nd improving wool and lamb production in Montana.\nEach session includes a
  60-minute presentation followed by a 30-minute Q&amp\;A\, allowing you to
